Utah: Day 2

Go Big or Go Home

April 2023

Day 2 starts bright and early. From Duck Valley we make our way down to Orderville, UT for quick breakfast at the Shop Coffee Company. With coffee in hand we loaded in to the back of an open-air 4×4 with our trusty guides Dan and Dawson from East Zion Adventures for a quick but exhilarating ride to our UTVs. A fast fun ride through some desert canyons leads us to the start of a steep hike. The hike led us to our moment of truth…

With only a quick stop to decide how brave we are– a small repel or big (80ft)–we pick our trail and begin our ascent. Go big or go home is our crews motto so after a further climb up hill and some scrambling through slots we make it to our destination. 8 stories up we harness and helmet up. When they say the first step is the hardest, I think they referring to the one backwards off a cliff.

Women were made on this trip and friendships solidified as fears were faced together.  Once our first girl’s feet hit the ground we had a strong cheer force going from above and below. One by one, step by step, six women battled fears and doubts to make the trip of a lifetime down 80 feet of red sandstone with only their hand on a rope to slow them down.
